Welcome to Eagle
Come for a Day..
..Stay for a Lifetime!

MysiNewsletter Editor: Mysi Girdlestone, Editor@EagleNebraska.com

Hi, my name is Mysi Girdlestone.

I am honored to serve as editor of the Eagle Newsletter. My family moved from Lincoln to Eagle when I was in high school. At the time I couldn’t wait to get out of a town this small.   Fast-forward over 20 years to when I have my own family and I can’t imagine a better place to be. I have been married to my husband Shane for 4 years and we have lived in Eagle for a little over 2 years. We have 2 amazing little guys, Brayden Shane is 3 and Braxten Joseph is 1. My mother-in-law, Sue, also lives with us.  I have my own business as a Team Beachbody Coach for the popular P90X and Insanity workouts. My business is a blessing because it has allowed me to be a full-time wife and mother and help people reach their goals physically and financially.

NATIONAL BLOOD CRISIS!
Worst Blood Shortage in Over a Decade!

The American Red Cross is facing a national blood crisis – its worst blood shortage in over a decade, posing a concerning risk to patient care. Doctors have been forced to make difficult decisions about who receives blood transfusions and who will need to wait until more products become available. Blood and platelet donations are critically needed to help prevent further delays in vital medical treatments. Please schedule your blood donation today.

liv nativity thank you

A big and heart-felt THANK YOU comes from Mark and Sondra Buell from the 3B Homestead for the wonderful support, help, prayers, and participation in The Living Nativity 2022.  Exactly 150 people volunteered for this year’s event, using their talents to serve in a variety of ways:  storytelling, parking cars, serving cocoa, set-up, tear-down, greeters, musicians (vocalists, keyboard, church choirs, and bands), providing cookies, and caring for the animals.  Members of the Cass County Creative Cats 4-H Club provided poultry for the event. Besides the weekend public events, private events included a church, two assisted living facilities, four home-school associations, a youth group, and two drive-through events.  Thank you to all!  Visitors and guests came from seven states and two countries, tripling attendance from past years.  Even though some of the days were cold, hearts were warmed, animals were well loved, storytelling was enlightening, and The Real Reason of Christmas, the birth of Jesus Christ, was celebrated!

This Weekend - Avoca Fire Department Annual Event!

 quack off

*QUACK OFF JANUARY 28TH, 2023*

We want to start by saying thank you for all of the interest in supporting our fire department. After having to cancel the past two years, we would really like to see the Quack Off come back, better than ever! Being as the Quack Off is our main fundraising opportunity, we are looking forward to seeing everyone and hoping to raise enough money to purchase life saving equipment for our department. We can't do it without you!

Registration will be from 10:00am-12:00pm. The registration fee is $40. Registration will take place at the Avoca Town Hall as normal (623 House Street). Races start at 1:00pm

Audrey who handles the Tuesday lunches at the Immanuel Lutheran Church for seniors  asked if we could edit the post below to reflect that meals are provided by ENOA (Eastern Nebraska Office on Aging). Looks like some seniors elect not to attend because they believe it is funded and furnished by the church itself.

Every Tuesday at noon, people over 60 from around the area gather at the Eagle Lutheran church for a hot lunch and fellowship. Cost is $4 and Audrey needs to know by Monday morning if you are coming. Phone 402.332.7367
