People of Eagle
Meet Michelle Ware
I have decided to start a new section in the Eagle Newsletter each week. It will be featuring a person in our community. I feel like sometimes we can get so stuck in our own world that we don't get to know the people that we see every day. You know how I feel about volunteers and small business owners so I am sure I will be featuring several of those but there are no "special" qualifications to be featured. I want us all to get to know our neighbors.

I know I recently introduced Michelle's business, Devil's Food Cakery, as one of the new small businesses that is available in town to serve the Eagle community. At that time we didn't really take a look at the #facebehindthecake as she says. So I wanted to take a minute and share the fun things I learned about her recently on her Facebook Business page CLICK HERE. I talked to Michelle and she gave me permission to share all of this with you.
She is originally from Californa. She served in the U.S. Air Force, became a narcotic investigator, and met and married her husband, Vince. She was fortunate enough to live in Hawaii, where she learned to surf, and Spain, when they won the World Cup.
Last year they bought a house in Eagle, NE and they both worked with legislators to change Nebraska’s cottage food laws. In September, because of their hard work, Devil’s Food Cakery (DFC) will be able to conduct business in a more direct way with its customers!
Michelle says it has been quite an adventure that all started when Vince bought her that first Kitchenaid Mixer back in 2013. That spark lead her to creating Devil's Food Cakery.
*I need your help...If you know of someone in our amazing community that should be featured please email me at editor@eaglenebraska.com so I can reach out to them. TIA!

OVERNIGHT OATS
I know I'm late to the party...but I have just started to get into overnight oats. Where have they been all my life?!?!? Here is an easy recipe with endless possibilities.
INGREDIENTS:
- 1/2 cup old-fashioned oats
- 1/2 cup milk whichever type you prefer
- 1/2 teaspoon pure maple syrup
- 1/4 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- For serving, optional: fresh fruit, sliced or slivered almonds, other nuts or nut butters, or anything else you can dream up.
DIRECTIONS:
- Combine oats, milk, maple syrup and vanilla in a mason jar or bowl. Seal with a lid and shake to mix, or stir if using a bowl. (If making a larger batch, you can stir the ingredients together in a bowl.)
- Refrigerate at least 6 hours and up to 4 days. Stir and add your toppings right before serving.
