   Meet Shawna Schildt

I have decided to start a new section in the Eagle Newsletter each week. It will be featuring a person in our community. I feel like sometimes we can get so stuck in our own world that we don't get to know the people that we see every day. You know how I feel about volunteers and small business owners so I am sure I will be featuring several of those but there are no "special" qualifications to be featured. I want us all to get to know our neighbors.

                          shawna fam 2   shawna fam

My names is Shawna Schildt and I have lived in Eagle since 2005. Since that time I have had three children...my oldest girl Sydnie is 14 year old, middle daughter Rylie is 10 years old and my youngest son Beckett is nine years old. We built our forever home by the car wash and love our friendly circle...lots of girls...my son too many and not enough boys if you ask my Beckett.

I graduated college from UNMC in Omaha and currently I am working in the infusion center at the Arthritis Center of Nebraska in Lincoln. I do love my job, it is very rewarding!! Prior to the clinic I worked at Saint Elizabeth Hospital for 14 years in outpatient surgery. We also are members of Immanuel Lutheran Church here in Eagle.

Being a single mom with three children, I stay pretty busy and I am always on the go. I always find time to run, listen to live music and watch football but when I get the chance my passion is scrapbooking! I am a member of the Parents and Teachers of Eagle and Fun Run Chairperson. I love being part of such a fun and active event for the children at Eagle Elementary school.

Sydnie my oldest goes to Waverly is in 8th grade, she is very talented and creative making animations on a variety of computer programs. This talent is way over my head as this generation seems to know all these "tech savvy" things. I am always asking for her advice. Rylie my middle daughter has been in dance and soccer since she was three years old. She has been on student council at school for the last couple years. Beckett tried football last year and played soccer a couple years but really just loves to build with Legos, magna tiles, Roblox, and marble runs.

Two interesting facts about me are I have ran 12 half marathons and I try to never miss a Chiefs football game...went to three home games last year in Kansas City. Most importantly I am a daddy's girl and whenever we find time we play a game of cribbage!

*I need your help...If you know of someone in our amazing community that should be featured please email me at editor@eaglenebraska.com so I can reach out to them. TIA!

TEAM

2019 No Limits Fall Activism Summit

Big Tobacco has a long history of marketing its deadly products to youth through manipulation and deception, and we’ve seen it all and had enough of it! As youth, we have the voice of change in this world and the power to make a positive difference. By using our voice, we will continue to stand up against Big Tobacco, bringing attention to the environmental impacts of tobacco products and marketing toward youth. Youth can empower, help guide and provide our peers with resources to create the change.

A few of the topics youth will learn about include No Limits and Big Tobacco 101, Big Tobacco’s history of manipulative marketing tactics, the positive difference youth are capable of making, how tobacco harms the environment, and how to take strategic steps in the right direction to make change a reality.

Here’s a quick summary:
When: November 16 – 17, 2019
Where: Divots Conference Center, Norfolk, NE
Cost: FREE (We’ll even pick you up!)

We’re looking for Nebraska youth who:

  • Are 12–18 years old, in grades 7–12.
  • Want to find out the truth behind Big Tobacco’s lies.
  • Are willing to take action against tobacco in their community and state.

Do you need a group or sponsor?

Both individuals and groups are welcome. A group sponsor is encouraged but not required.
