New Community Center Planning Meeting A Disappointment....

The Village of Eagle Town Board held their meeting last Wednesday where they had invited the entire town to the community center for a presentation on a New Community Center.  The students from the University were there with their projects ready to answer any questions.  I was embarrassed at the lack of community response.  We have close to 12,000 people in our community.  Minus the town board, myself and the press from different newspapers there were maybe 20-30 people in and out and I feel that I am being generous in this number.  One of these families was actually from Waverly and drove to Eagle that night to check out the options we were looking at.

I took pictures of each project but they don't do the work justice.  The ideas the students came up with spectacular!  They ranged from including a library, replacing the old pool house and having basketball courts to including the old silos.
There was a lot of hours and hard work done for our community.  I encourage you to ask questions and fill out the forms sent out by the Village Office asking what you would like to see in a community center.  THIS is your chance.  Don't wait until it is done before you decide to speak up or complain about what was or wasn't done.  If you don't take the chance to have your voice heard now, don't complain about it later.

Eagle Elementary School Skate is next Thursday, February 26, 2009.

If you haven't been to one of the school skates yet.....there is a LOT of energy!  The kids have a great time not only skating but playing games and interacting with each other.  The parents also have a good time!  You get the opportunity to meet parents that perhaps your children have talked about wanting to do things with but you were not comfortable since you didn't know the family.  Even though we live in a small community we do still have the obstacle of finding the time to meet each other.  Come, skate, visit and have a great time!  If you haven't been skating since you were younger....it hurts worse for longer when you fall now!  Speaking from experience.

One of the great things about living in Eagle has to be sledding on pool hill.  Just as you see kids trecking up the pool in the summer time in their swim suits holding their towels, you will see them taking the same route decked out in their snow suits dragging sleds behind them.  You will find them throwing snow balls, sledding, snow boarding and making ramps to jump off!  Kids.....from young to old enjoy seeing how far they can travel into the snow without tracks yet!  Last year, I actually hit one of those ramps, flew off the sled and yes....landed on my head.  I guess as we get older and taller the farther you fall the more it hurts.  Of course I had some pride I was nursing as well!  Hope you enjoy some of the pics I caught while sledding with my own kids!  I actually didn't do any of the sledding this time!
