Missing
If you could forward to anyone you know that might be in the Eagle, Elmwood, Alvo area please do so. We are missing our White 50lb female 3 year old blue heeler. Her name is Gypsy. This is an older photo but she looks the same only bigger. She mysteriously escaped her pen during Sunday nights storms. She's very hearty so she could have traveled very far.
Please keep an eye out and call us if you have any information

Eagle softball teams played in Cortland last week. Thursday night is when the storms began. Here is a picture I took of the sky before they finally called the game for the 14 & Under team.
Have you stopped to smell the flowers?
Marge Stubbendeck is the one who got it all started. She is the one who makes the corner of Lou's look so good each year.
Marge called businesses to see if they would like to buy one for the front of their business. She purchased all the plants and most of the pots for those wanting them and even planted some of them. Businesses are asked to take care of the plants but Marge checks the plants weekly to make sure they are getting the care needed. If everyone would help in the effort to keep the plants alive and looking good it will be an asset to our town.
Thank you Marge and Eagle Businesses who make such a difference to our town and especially our Main Street!
Session One of the Swim Lessons offered at Eagle Pool started last week.

Alvo-Eagle Rec Association Needs your help!
The Alvo-Eagle Rec Association needs volunteers to work the annual fireworks stand, which is our primary fundraiser for the year.
Expenses to keep our ball program running include purchasing uniforms, adding/replacing team equipment, paying umpires, purchasing materials to maintain the field, upkeep on field maintenance equipment, etc. This adds to a great deal of money each year, and registration fees cover less than half of the total operating expenses.
To continue providing a local ball program at an affordable cost for all kids to participate, we must have a successful fundraiser each year to make up the difference. Please find a day and time in the following schedule that you can volunteer for a couple of hours to support the ball program in Eagle. If you can volunteer for more than one shift, that would be great. We rely on parents and coaches to help us make this a success every year.
Please note on the survey (on the website) what your availability is. Once we've collected everyone's availability, we will put together a preliminary schedule to send out to volunteers. You will still have the opportunity to make changes at that time, if needed.
Thank you for taking the time to volunteer!
Thanks,

Attention Cancer Survivors!
Dear Survivors,
I'm writing to extend an invitation to participate in the American Cancer Society 2010 Relay for Life of Cass County. It will take place on Saturday, June 26, 2010 at Plattsmouth High School. The planning of this annual event, which is in its 15th year, begins a month after the previous Relay. It's a huge undertaking but a labor of love for all of our committee members. We want to help the American Cancer Society help all of you and your families in so many ways.
As cancer survivors you are what the Relay For Life is all about - you all are basically the "heart" of it and the reason we all work so hard to make it better every year. I became increasingly involved over the last several years because of my history with cancer (I'm a two time breast cancer survivor -and very proud of it!). Some of my fellow committee members are also survivors and of course we have all been touched by cancer involving loved ones as well.
What I'm asking of you is simple. Please plan to attend the Relay even if only for a short time. We need the opportunity to honor you with a survivor dinner at 5:30 PM (one caregiver for each survivor is also invited) and the celebratory survivor lap at 7 PM which is the start of the twelve hour event. I consider it a privilege to walk alongside all of you. Our goal is to honor 100 (men, women & children) survivors this year. Please keep in mind, we are not limited to only Cass County residents. We are reaching out to survivors near and far.
I ask that you either call our American Cancer Society Staff Partner, Megan Maryott at 1-402-393-5801 X70770 or logon to www.relayforlife.org/casscone and select "Sign Up As A Survivor" and complete the registration - there is no charge for survivors. We are running out of time so please do it soon. If necessary you can register at the Relay that evening too!
It's that simple - will you do it? It won't be quite the same without you!
Very Gratefully,
Jan Young
