Food Bank

The Food Bank is located in the white house beside the Methodist Church on Main St. Anyone can use the bank if they are in need of food once a month. Call Georgia Ann to make appointment to go to the pantry. 402-580-0960.

Food can be dropped off at both banks in Eagle and cash at Eagle State Bank.

We have plenty of canned vegetables and soup but need..... ketchup, mustard, sugar, cooking oil, toothpaste, laundry detergent, dish soap, toilet paper, Kleenex, peanut butter and jelly, canned pasta, mac/cheese and any type of cleaning products.

We have two freezers so can take frozen products.

We try to carry everything needed in a household not just food. Food stamps can only be used on food so keep in mind what you need in your home and it is the same for the people that visit the Food Bank. The dollar store is a great place to buy first aid items such as Tylenol, band-aids, first aid creams, flu/cold products, deodorant and other hygiene products.

Cash donations are used to purchase $10.00 gift certificates that are used at the Eagle Grocery Store on perishable foods like milk, bread and eggs.

Just this week we had 7 families use the food bank and that means I gave out $70.00 in certificates so they go pretty fast... money is always needed. I have two families that are pregnant so we can use any baby products.

The Foodbank is sponsored by the Eagle Methodist Church but the community, scouts and schools have drives that stock the shelves.

It is amazing the way our community supports the pantry. I just can't thank the people enough!

 Back to school

School is right around the corner.  District 145 Middle School and High School students will start school on Wednesday, August 14.  Eagle Elementary School students will start on Thursday, August 15.  School hours at Eagle are 8:10-3:05.  If you are new to the community and have a student that will be attending school next year, please stop by the school office sometime between now and early August to complete the registration process.

The Parents and Teachers of Eagle (PTE) will be hosting a Back to School Bash on Monday, August 5 from 5:00-8:00.  This event is a time for families to purchase their school supplies in one location, enjoy a meal together, catch up with friends and families, and find out which classroom they are in for the upcoming year.  Be sure to stop by!

Open House will be held from 6:00-7:00 on Wednesday, August 14.  On this day teachers will be in classrooms and families will be able to come and look around the room and meet the teacher.  This is also a good time to drop off school supplies, pick up paperwork that needs to be completed and put money in your lunch accounts.

Eagle Elementary will be welcoming three new teachers to the building.  Mrs. Marci Sorenson will be teaching 3rd grade.  Marci replaces Mrs. Stepp who accepted a teaching position at O'Neill Public Schools.  Ms. Rachel Prieksat is our new media specialist.  She replaces Mrs. Hestermann who accepted the same position at Syracuse Public Schools.  Mrs. Ashley Hellige will be teaching 5th grade and replacing Ms. Foreman.  Ms. Foreman has moved to a resource position in the building.  We welcome these teachers to the building.

Enjoy the rest of the summer!  See you soon.  Mrs. Heusman, Eagle Elementary Principal

Cass County Fair 4-H Auction Supporters (family, friends, businesses, alumni) are invited to show support for Cass County 4-Hers by attending one of two 4-H auctions held during the Cass County Fair.

• The 4-H cake auction starts at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday evening August 6, at the open air auditorium on the Cass County fairgrounds. It provides an opportunity to purchase fancy or decorated cakes, pies, and/or specialty breads baked and decorated by 4-H members. The proceeds of this event will be divided between the participating 4-Her and the Cass County 4-H Council. 4-H Council funds raised at this event help sponsor activities for 4-H members throughout the year. Auction supporters are invited to stay for the Fashion Show/Awards program following the auction. A Sneak Peek and Refreshments will be held for everyone at the 4-H Building following this event.

• The 4-H Livestock Auction starts at 3 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, August 11, in the livestock barn. Livestock judging awards will be presented to the 4-Hers before the auction at 2:45 p.m. The Cass County 4-H Council clerks this premium sale which is held for market animals only. Each exhibitor is allowed to sell one animal of each species as premium only, meaning dollars per head not cents per pound. Exhibitors retaining ownership will only receive the premium from the sale. Exhibitors of shipped animals will receive the premium from the buyer in addition to the sale proceeds from the buyer of the animal.
