'The Boys Next Door' Adds Sweetness and Humor to Lofte SeasonManley, NE [August 15, 2013] - Tom Griffin's off-Broadway hit, 'The Boys Next Door' opens at the Lofte Community Theatre on Saturday, August 31. 'Boys' is the story of four intellectually-disabled men living together in a small apartment with their social worker, Jack. Dealing with Schizophrenia, OCD and other conditions are part of their daily life which is played out in scenes involving Jack and his mentally challenged wards. Each faces their own conflicts, especially Jack who is starting to experience burn out.Directed by Kevin Colbert of Weeping Water, the play stars Jamion Biesterfeld of Louisville as Jack. Erik Quam of Omaha plays Arnold. Doug Rothgeb and Joshua Smith also of Omaha play Norman and Barry respectively. Kevin Holdorf of Manley is Lucien. Also starring in the play are Ken Snyder of Elmwood, Silvia Conley of Papillion, Summer Sinclair of Council Bluffs and Greg Leger of Omaha.The production runs August 31, September 1, 6-8 and 12-15. An all-encompassing workshop for small business owners and ag producers is coming to selected Nebraska locations in early September. Hosted by the Nebraska Chamber of Commerce & Industry, the "Business Roadmap Workshop" will feature nationally acclaimed experts who will reveal strategies focused on the long-term success of your business operation.
Key elements of this workshop include:
* Business planning techniques;
* Managing your business in a changing global environment;
* Business transition and planning;
* Tax and legal strategies; and
* Mitigating financial risk.
The workshop will be held at three separate Nebraska locations on these
dates:
* Wed., Sept. 4 - Mahoney State Park, Ashland.
* Thurs., Sept. 5 - Younes Conference Center, Kearney.
* Fri., Sept. 6 - Divots Conference Center, Norfolk.
Workshops start at 8 a.m. and will conclude by 3 p.m. The first 40 who register at each location will receive a 30-minute consulting visit with a Nebraska business planning expert. This time can be utilized to ask questions specific to your operation.
Featured speakers include Nick Niemann, founder of the BriefBack Business Institute, which trains business executives across the U.S. and Canada. Mr. Niemann is also a longtime partner in the Nebraska-based law firm McGrath North, as well as a renowned business writer. Also featured will be Larry Kopsa, partner in the Nebraska-based accounting and tax advising firm Kopsa Otte. Mr. Kopsa brings more than 35 years of experience in accounting and tax guidance, specializing in tax law, income tax planning, estate planning and financial analysis.
Cost is $99 for chamber of commerce members (Nebraska Chamber or local chamber), including lunch and refreshments. Cost for non-chamber members is $150. Additional attendees from the same business may attend for only $35.

Greenblatt & Seay will be featured presenters for the Eclectics Festival sponsored by the Nebraska American String Teachers Association. the Eclectics Festival will take place on Saturday, September 28, at the Millard West High School.
At 2 PM, Greenblatt & Seay will host a reading session of their publications, including selections from their Tunes for Two series. At 3 PM, these multi-instrumentalists will be performing a selection of Scandinavian tunes, featuring the nyckelharpa (keyed fiddle from Sweden), and music from Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and Finland. At 4 pm, Greenblatt & Seay will host a Diatonic Workshop, featuring a hands-on-harmonica session, and demonstrations of penny whistles, mountain dulcimer, etc.

Greenblatt & Seay proudly announce the Seventeenth ANNUAL SCHOOLHOUSE FIDDLING BEE. This historical, hysterical event will take place on Sunday, October 13, at 2:30 PM, downstairs in the Old Avoca, Nebraska Schoolhouse. In the Open Division, fiddlers will play a hoedown, a waltz, and a tune of choice. There will also be other divisions of competition available for the adventurous fiddlers, including a Singing Fiddler's Contest, a Twin Fiddler's Contest, a Fee-Fi-Faux Fiddler's Contest (fiddle tunes played on any instrument other than a fiddle), and a Hocus-Pocus Contest (cross-tuning, sound effects, dancing, etc.), which will give fiddlers an opportunity to play tunes that are usually not allowed in any other contest.

Admission is $10.00 for adults, $5.00 for students, and $1.00 for children. Fiddlers and their back-ups are admitted for free. The contest will be followed by a light snack and an acoustic jam session.
