"Ethan Claymore" Opens Winter Season at Mahoney State Park
Together, Mahoney State Park and KBC Productions announce that the Christmas production, "Ethan Claymore," will be playing this month at the Kountze Memorial Theater. Show dates are December 6-8, 13-15, 20-22, and 26-30. All shows begin at 7:30pm except for Sundays which are 2:00pm matinees.
Written by Norm Foster, "Ethan Claymore" is the story of a man who needs to get his life back on track in time to celebrate the season. Ethan can't seem to find any holiday cheer, and what's worse is he's verging on bankruptcy. With the help of his neighbor, a local school teacher, and his brother, Ethan tries to find his Christmas spirit and save his farm. The warmth of a Norman Rockwell painting mixed with just a touch of Seinfeld, Ethan Claymore will be a delight for the whole family this holiday season.
Directed by Samantha Colbert of Lincoln, the play features Doug and Matthew Rothgeb of Omaha, Harold Scott of Lincoln, Brandy Palatas of Papillion, Aaron Spracklin of Elmwood, and Kevin Holdorf of Manley. Winter Safety Tips
The Old Avoca Schoolhouse in Avoca, Nebraska will be hosting a special "Schoolhouse Celtic Fiddling Camp", for fiddlers, violists, mandolinists, guitarists, harpists, and ukulele players. Music from Ireland, Scotland, and Wales will be featured. The sessions will be led by championship fiddler and author, Deborah Greenblatt.
The camp will be on Wednesday, March 12 - Friday, March 14, from 9 AM to 1 PM. You can sign up for 1 day, or 2 days, or all 3 days.
On Wednesday, participants will be mostly reading tunes, using sheet music in standard notation. We'll be learning melodies, harmonies, and chords. You will be improving your sight reading, and experiencing fiddling fun.
On Thursday, we will be mostly playing tunes by ear, so feel free to bring your recording gadgets. Sheet music versions of the tunes will be provided for you by the end of the day, just in case your ears need the help.
On Friday, we will be mostly jamming, modulating, singing, dancing, experimenting, sharing, and playing fiddle related instruments.
One day: $60.00
Two days: $110.00 ($55 per day)
Three days: $150.00 fee for 3 days. ($50 per day)
