Comedy ‘Self-Help’ Opens at Mahoney State Park

KBC Productions will open the comedy production, ‘Self-Help,’ on March 8th at the Kountze Theater in Mahoney State Park. Written by Norm Foster, ‘Self-Help,’ tells of Hal and Cindy Savage who reinvent themselves as self-help gurus and relationship experts. When their own marriage starts to take a nosedive and they find a dead man in their study, their professional status hangs in the balance. This is an adult farce with hilarious situations. Director Kevin Colbert suggests a PG-13 rating.

Kevin Colbert also stars in this production along with Brandy Palatas of Papillion as his wife. Stacy White and Shari Hoelker of Omaha, Jim Knierim of Louisville and Harold Scott of Lincoln round out the cast. Performance dates are March 8, 9, 14-16, 21-23, 28-30, April 4-6, 11-13, 18 and 19. Curtain times are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm. Sunday performances are 2pm matinees.

Mahoney State Park is located off the interstate on exit 426. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for children under 12. While some tickets are available at the door, you can call to reserve your tickets at (402) 944-2523 ext 7122. A valid park entry permit is required.

Just a note from old Computer John of Louisville

My guess is that if you own an "old" desktop type computer, you probably have an operating system called Windows XP that makes it run. You may have heard, or seen something on the Internet about the Death of WINXP on 4/8/2014 - yet you are using that computer and it works just fine.

My recommendation is that you do nothing, and stop worrying about it. God knows you have lots of other things to worry about.
Here is Microsoft's (the creator of the software) statement on the Death of WINXP 4/8/2014

If you continue to use Windows XP after support ends, (04/08/2014) your computer will still work but it might become more vulnerable to security risks and viruses. Also, as more software and hardware manufacturers continue to optimize for more recent versions of Windows, you can expect to encounter greater numbers of apps and devices that do not work with Windows XP.

In fairness it is a 12 year old operating system (piece of software) and my guess is that it was expected to have a 10 year life, but the economy and other factors added 2 years to it's official life, and Microsoft deserves a chance to move on a sell you new stuff.
If you are concerned and want to get something new; you can upgrade Read Here buy the Windows 7 Operating System http://goo.gl/Z80MsB for $100 or for $200 look for a new or "refurb" computer that is running Windows 7 (try www.Walmart.com search for Windows 7) or EBay) probably a better option but avoid Windows 8 for a variety of reasons .....but I stand by my recommendation to do nothing.

Ok, I changed my mind..do 3 things free:
1) on the bottom/left of you screen is the "Start" button
Click that, then Click Run... it will drop a little dialog box and type: msconfig
Click OK, look for where it says Startup and Click that.
Then tell it to Disable All - Click Apply and then re-start your computer.
That step eliminates all the nasty stuff that starts every time you start your computer "for your convenience" even though you never asked it to do that for you.

2) Go to www.AVast.com
get some free malware protection. They support XP and plan to continue

3) Do a DEFRAG
Get a friend to teach you do a DEFRAG of you computer hard drive, or Type DEFRAG in your Start / Search for instructions. It is a very simple task - one that you should do from time to time.

Do the following 3 free tasks, and then relax and enjoy your "Old" computer running Windows XP for another 10 years!
