20th Annual Schoolhouse Fiddling Bee
Greenblatt & Seay proudly announce the 20th ANNUAL SCHOOLHOUSE FIDDLING BEE. This historical, hysterical event will take place on Sunday, October 9, at 2:30 PM, downstairs in the Old Avoca, Nebraska Schoolhouse. In the Open Division, fiddlers will play a hoedown, a waltz, and a tune of choice. There will also be other divisions of competition available for the adventurous fiddlers, including a Singing Fiddler's Contest, a Twin Fiddler's Contest, a Fee-Fi-Faux Fiddler's Contest (fiddle tunes played on any instrument other than a fiddle), and a Hocus-Pocus Contest (cross-tuning, sound effects, dancing, etc.), which will give fiddlers an opportunity to play tunes that are usually not allowed in any other contest.
For more information, and to register online CLICK HERE.
Admission is $10.00 for adults, $5.00 for students, and $1.00 for children. Fiddlers and their back-ups are admitted for free. The contest will be followed by a light snack and an acoustic jam session with Greenblatt & Seay.

Plattsmouth Adult Education adds job skills and new class times
Plattsmouth Community School District Adult Education begins its 40th year with a new focus on College and Career Readiness. The Federal Government has charged all adult education programs with preparing students for college and the workplace. Plattsmouth is stepping up. PCSD will integrate job search, workplace skills, and college preparation into its GED, English language, and Adult Basic Education courses.
To meet this challenge, an additional class session is being offered on Thursday mornings.
Classes are offered Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday during the public school year at 9:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., at the PACE Center, 15508 2nd Ave. The PACE Center is located across from the high school to the west.
Please call Tallie VanWesten, program director, at 402-296-3174 Ext. 2315 for information.
New students may begin during any class period by arriving a few minutes early. You will be very welcome.
What is Next for You?
Plattsmouth Community School District’s Adult Education program is set to begin new College and Career Readiness programs. Students will learn about job search techniques and workplace skills, as well as preparation for post-secondary education. Students will be encouraged to look past GED and get ready for trade school or college courses.
The new courses will be integrated into student’s Adult Basic Education, GED or English Language classes. Students will receive a handbook, direct instruction from teachers and online study. As with all the program’s courses, students have a learning plan tailored to their own needs.
Classes last two and one-half hours and begin at 9:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Come to the PACE Center (the old John Deere Building) across from the west entrance of the High School, 15508 2nd Avenue.
New students may begin at any class time. Adults may attend just to polish up their basic math and writing skills even if they finished high school. English Language learners are always welcome.
For information about College and Career Readiness, GED, Adult Basic Education, or English Language classes, please call Tallie VanWesten, program director, at 402-296-3174 Ext.2315.
