This summer, the Red Cross Summer of Stories campaign is helping raise awareness about the constant need for blood and encourage regular donations. As part of the campaign, all presenting donors between July 1 and 15 will be automatically entered to win one of five $3,000 American Express gift cards to help create their own summer memories. Please note that financial contributions to Red Cross disaster relief are not used for these promotions. Auditions for 'The Boys Next Door' at Lofte Community Theatre
Manley, NE [July 1, 2013] - The Lofte Community Theatre in Manley announces that it will be holding open auditions for 'The Boys Next Door' at 7pm on Monday, July 22 and Tuesday, July 23. 'Boys,' is a very funny yet very touching play that focuses on the lives of four special needs men who live in a communal residence under the watchful eye of their social worker.
Artistic Director Kevin Colbert notes that the script is designed so that 6 of the supporting roles may be played by one actress and one actor. However, if we have enough auditionees, the cast may be doubled. Also the script suggests that the role of Lucian be an African American.
Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. Rehearsals will begin in late July. Performances will run weekends August 31-September 15. Those auditioning should bring a list of possible schedule conflicts. Questions about auditions or the production itself may be directed to Kevin Colbert at 402-234-2553.

School is right around the corner. District 145 Middle School and High School students will start school on Wednesday, August 14. Eagle Elementary School students will start on Thursday, August 15. School hours at Eagle are 8:10-3:05. If you are new to the community and have a student that will be attending school next year, please stop by the school office sometime between now and early August to complete the registration process.
The Parents and Teachers of Eagle (PTE) will be hosting a Back to School Bash on Monday, August 5 from 5:00-8:00. This event is a time for families to purchase their school supplies in one location, enjoy a meal together, catch up with friends and families, and find out which classroom they are in for the upcoming year. Be sure to stop by!
Open House will be held from 6:00-7:00 on Wednesday, August 14. On this day teachers will be in classrooms and families will be able to come and look around the room and meet the teacher. This is also a good time to drop off school supplies, pick up paperwork that needs to be completed and put money in your lunch accounts.
Eagle Elementary will be welcoming three new teachers to the building. Mrs. Marci Sorenson will be teaching 3rd grade. Marci replaces Mrs. Stepp who accepted a teaching position at O'Neill Public Schools. Ms. Rachel Prieksat is our new media specialist. She replaces Mrs. Hestermann who accepted the same position at Syracuse Public Schools. Mrs. Ashley Hellige will be teaching 5th grade and replacing Ms. Foreman. Enjoy the rest of the summer! See you soon. Mrs. Heusman, Eagle Elementary Principal
